ADRENALIN JUNKIES: WE DO CAMPINIG VACATIONS

To be game with weather, bugs, wild animals and people you do not know camping in close proximity to you is real junk and things we think can go wrong more than likely they do get ridiculous and its especially true when you are camping as you are out of your element. The curious part of living this kind of life for a day or two is we have to resort to our basic human instincts. Last weekend me and my husband went for Camping at Garner State Park, Texas.

We were excited to camp as we didn't had to hike or go through backpacking fun. So it was only camping and eating. I believe one good thing leads to another better hope. Let start with the idea of camping which lead to the beautiful long drive in the Hill Country through small towns where we found one small Bakery opened in a charming house where we had our peaceful home cooked lunch. What more one could ask to dote on within few hours of the day. With happy belly and soul we reached our Camp ground. Aah! it was simply serene. Its October in Texas, its beautiful out here, we offset the heat and ready to embrace the cool sun.

It was early evening when we reached, there was plenty of sunshine with the hint of cold in shades. I had pictured the ground to be green but Viola! it was as colourful as Rainbow. There were so many campers already pitched in there for the weekend, it seemed like hundreds of colorful balls on the ground. People seemed to be so laid back, no one on the run or multi-tasking. they were either relaxing or were preparing to relax. Either way all were relaxing and that's the happy hour for everyone. After getting the tickling vibes from most of the campers we started setting our camp.

There is always some adventure involved in setting up the camp. At least with us. We are not the veteran campers, so we still juggle around to set up our tent. I get lucky just because my husband is the intelligent one amongst us. He makes it through. There were already so many colours on the ground, our orange and grey tent didn't add much to the montage but of course it was ours and the special one. The one thing I appreciate the most in this kind of vacationing is the amount of time one has to do all the activities in the world. I am 30 yrs. old and I have never rode a bicycle. Therefore, this was the day to break my promise with my fear of cannot ride a bike. All these pushing out of my comfort zone comes from my husband('my husband' this word is getting creepy, let's refer him as 'D' from here after). We rented a bike and I don't believe it till today, D just showed me once how to paddle and balance and me who always take twice the time to get the gist of any simplest thing got the hold of bike at once, though he had to push me always to get started but I rode pretty good all evening which was an achievement for me. Wow! I thank D for teaching me so many things in life, like driving car and riding bike being few of them.

However good food one may have, hunger is always 3-4 hours ahead waiting for us to feel it. Its supper time and here cooking begins. Sitting around the campfires, enjoying camp cooking, telling stories and playing games all create memories and bonds that last a lifetime. And it doesn't matter how elaborate a meal is prepared, to the campers nothing compares with skewering marshmallows and roasting it over the fire they built. We cooked one pot meal, fried rice and it was yummy!! In fact, it turned out yummy because of the cold weather, campsites and the company we had all around us. I always overeat and specially when we camp. With eating and cleaning night falls and torch lights, lantern and campfires illuminates the Garner Park like a Fiesta.

Our night was broken sleep night. You see we are not an expert campers, we did not get the appropriate sleeping stuffs which kept us tossing and snuggling with each other all night. Rather than being painful it was fun. I always knew camping would be good in itself but the morning would be the best. Habitually, I am an early riser, pain for D. I get to see the best of the mornings. Grayish sky, dew drops all over the surface of anything exposed, pin drop silence, smoky air and half burning woods. Every camp seems still. No movement. Life is good, especially in the mornings. Making tea under the sky in chilly weather is fun and drinking it inside the camp with half slept D is funny.

When sun came up we went for a river front walk. It was matchless. People fishing, sitting, tubing, studying nature, doing whatever. We went for hiking after wards. Hiking is always fun and without load on the back it is definitely fun. The hardest part of camping is when I have to fold my tent back. You see, there is always Monday after Sunday, I always hope for Saturday after Sunday. Whether its for a day or two camping is always my first choice for vacation. Its never the same.
